Sunday Worship

Each Sunday service at the Cathedral has its own feel, and one may fit your needs or temperament more than another. In all, we experience the mystery of God, hear and wrestle with God’s word, share Christ’s presence in the Sacrament, and leave strengthened to live and serve in the world.

Below is a brief description of each Sunday service. Please also consult the Calendar for more specific information about the music, preachers, or readings for particular Sundays.

8 am
Morning Prayer with Holy Eucharist
The Chapel of St. Martin of Tours

A quiet spoken service, using the Book of Common Prayer, with scripture readings, prayers, and a short homily, as well as the Sacrament of Holy Eucharist.

9 am
Holy Eucharist
The Great Choir

The Sacrament of Holy Eucharist, celebrated with a sermon and hymns, using both traditional and contemporary language from a variety of Episcopal sources.

On the fourth Sunday of each month, the sermon and liturgy at the 9 am Eucharist is tailored for "Children of All Ages"––deliberately intergenerational in form. While children are always welcome at Cathedral services, members of the Children's Abbey remain in the liturgy with their families on these weeks. This special offering is suspended in June, July, August and December.

10:10 am
Little Pilgrims
Cathedral Crossing

Children of all ages are invited to explore the mystery and wonder of the Christian faith by taking a pilgrimage with our trained Cathedral staff to one of the thousands of religious symbols in this sacred worship space.
We gather at the Crossing Altar in the Cathedral’s Nave after the 9 AM service.

11 am
Choral Eucharist
Cathedral Crossing

Our largest service, warm and elegantly formal. The repertoire of our professional Cathedral Choir, volunteer Chorale and Cathedral Choristers derives mostly from the classical tradition--mass settings and anthems as well as great hymns and spirituals. Communion is received in the round, after a sermon from the Cathedral Dean or Chapter members.

4 pm
Choral Evensong
The Great Choir

Choral evening prayer in the tradition of the great Cathedrals of the Anglican Communion. Preces and Responses, Anthems, and Canticles sung by the renowned Cathedral Choir.

We look forward to having you with us.
