Every week, The Cathedral Church of Saint John the Divine hosts hundreds of visitors, tourists, seekers and friends from all over the world. People are drawn to the magnificent architecture, inspiring music, beautiful artwork, and powerful liturgies. They attend cultural and artistic events, public conversations about important issues, as well as weddings, funerals, services of baptism, confirmation and ordination, morning and evening prayer services, Sunday and weekday Masses. Sometimes, after they have attended a few events, they find that they would like to call this place home.

The Congregation of Saint Saviour, formed in 1992, is its own non-profit corporation that functions as the Episcopal congregation in the Cathedral, the Mother Church of the Episcopal Diocese of New York. We have elected lay wardens and vestry, and a vicar appointed by the Dean of the Cathedral. The Congregation includes people who live in the neighborhood or city, have recently moved here for study or work, commute from nearby towns and states or who live far away and simply want to have their spiritual roots in this place. We welcome them all!
