The west steps of the Cathedral have long been a front porch for our neighborhood. In recent months, particularly during the weeks leading to and following the election, our steps have been a site for prayer and togetherness in the midst of the pandemic.

On Wednesday, February 17, the Cathedral clergy will hold a brief service on the Cathedral’s steps at noon to mark the beginning of Lent. Because of the COVID pandemic, we will join the other Episcopalians in the Diocese of New York in refraining from the physical imposition of ashes, but we will celebrate the rest of the liturgy from the Book of Common Prayer. The noon service is open to all who would like to participate. The service leaflet is available here.

The service will also be streamed Wednesday evening at 7 pm, and available to view on our website, Facebook page and YouTube channel.
