Stock

Giving gifts of stock directly to the Cathedral can offer tax benefits to you while supporting our ministries. Appreciated securities are those that are worth more today than when you acquired them. You may be able to:

  • Receive an immediate income tax deduction on the fair market value of your stock gift
  • Avoid capital gains tax

To make a gift of stock, or to learn more, please contact Priscilla Bayley at (212) 316-7570 or [email protected].

IRA Distribution

You can transfer assets directly from a traditional IRA to support the Cathedral, an easy, tax-efficient way for donors to make an impact. If you are 70 ½ or older, you are able to make a tax-free gift up to $100,000 directly from your traditional IRA directly to the Cathedral. If you are 72 or older, you can also use this transfer to satisfy your required minimum distribution.

How to make the gift:

  1. Contact your IRA administrator and request that a distribution be made directly to the Cathedral Church of Saint John the Divine.
  2. Provide your administrator with our tax ID # 13-1623934.
  3. Contact Priscilla Bayley in our Office of Gift Planning at [email protected] or (212) 316-7570.
